A thank you note from Mātua Bryan for Saturday's performance

Thank you to all of the learners, parents and teachers who braved the wild weather to perform on behalf of our Kapa Haka rōpū for Stonefields School. We were able to get around half of the learners to the performance, which is great considering we know people have other commitments on weekends. Why our presence was so important  We do not often get these types of opportunities to engage with our local community so it was great to take advantage of it. Our group was one of the most diverse out of the schools involved and for us to perform so well was awesome to hear. One of my proudest moments of the day, and only Mātua Jipsy and I were able to experience this, was when the group was in the wharenui practicing our set of songs and the sound was incredible in the small space. So much so, that passers by (including seasoned kapa haka performers) were drawn in to watch the learners perform and were pleasantly surprised that it was Stonefields School. Special thanks to our parents

IMPORTANT NOTE re: Saturday - please read as some instructions have changed

Hi Everyone Just a few days to go now - we have made some changes to the timings for Saturday to make it easier to get our tamariki dressed and ready.  Please read the below and get in touch in need. We are now meeting at school (hub 5/6) at 11am. Any parents who can help get our tamariki ready (clothes, hair feathers, moko) would be appreciated.   Parents of our tamahine (daughters), it would help if they had a pony tail or bun to put the feathers into, where possible. Parents will be responsible for taking their children's clothes with them Please bring back any poi to school as soon as you can so we have enough for Saturday. We will then go to the event at 11.45am and meet in the Glen Innes community centre. Other than that, everything is as per previously advised. Song List Want to do some last minute practice?  The waiata we are singing are: Wairua Tapu Kumea Mai Ra Kapoipoia Toia Tika Tonu (haka) Kua Rongo Mai Koe Tiaho Mai Ra All

Te Kōtuku Festival - Ruapotaka Marae, Glen Innes - Saturday 24 November

Kia Ora everyone We have the schedule for next Saturday's performance and here are the key things to remember. The festival runs from 9am - 4pm and many of our local schools are participating.  This is a great opportunity for our tamariki to watch other schools' roopu (groups), understand a bit more about kapa haka and connect with our local community. We need to meet at 11.55am at the Glen Innes Community Centre.   Getting Ready only our tutors are able to help the tamariki get ready - any extra help is provided by the festival organisers when we are dressed, we move to the marae and an official photograph will be taken.  Our tutors will bring your childrens' belongings to the marae whānau can wait for the performance by the stage area - we are performing at 12.55pm, after Glen Innes Primary. Other things to know around the stage are plenty of activity stalls - it would be great to support this event if you are able to spend extra time either before
