Te Kotuku Reflection & Last Performances

Congratulations to our  rōpū for an awesome performance at the Te Kotuku festival. We've had some wonderful feedback about it and are asking for people to share their photos and videos with us so we can post up on this blog. I think we should be proud. We've had lots of practices and the kids lifted in front of a healthy crowd. We counted 107 performers on Saturday which is well beyond our expectations. Thanks to the community for their support as I know that some had to sacrifice other Saturday events in order to perform. I stuck around afterwards to watch other schools and there are lots of good things we can learn from them. Was an awesome day out. We are close to the end of the year. Reinforcement of At Home Practice, Reminder of Te Kōtuku Cultural Festival and Photos

We've had some strong practices this term. I'm loving the Te Pou Manawa area. Thanks to the whānau who get in the mix and learn with their children. It helps reinforce the value that you give it. I'm an advocate of people getting involved. It helps normalise what we do but shows that you care. I want to make sure that we keep our whānau involved. If you want to get involved you are welcome to just jump in. Have a chat if you want to. I remember, when my children started, helping line up the boys and girls and learning bits and pieces. It's fun to support them and I always felt welcome to do it. I want that open environment to continue. I love how organically people do it but I want to make sure that everyone feels welcome.   We have used practices to slowly introduce a number of different waiata. I think this helps the rōpū remain engaged and energetic. We need help to support this learning from home. I'd love the learning to continue at home. I've heard fro
