School Hangi

What’s Happening On Friday the 1st of July the school is doing it's first official school wide hangi experience.  This is an opportunity for the children and community.  The school has provided the community with a hangi pit and now this is our opportunity to showcase it to the community.  As the Kapa Haka community we will be working in partnership with the school to be able to perform it.  This is a massive undertaking.  In 2014 we completed a hangi for our Marae noho which was for 150 people, this time we are looking at feeding around 600 people.  This will be an incredible and ambitious undertaking. Why Is It Important Not only is this important for our children but also for our community.  Our community will benefit from experiencing traditional Maori cooking.  We can share the culture and assist the school in connecting with its biculturalism values.  Food can bring the community together but what we learnt from the l...

Learning Achievement Celebrations

Dear families of our amazing Kapa Haka group. As you are aware, our Learning Achievement Celebration is this Monday 14th December. The Kapa Haka group have been asked to perform at both the junior and senior celebrations.   The junior celebration starts at 2pm so we will be getting the learners ready once they have finished their lunch. If any parents / care givers are able to help get our learners ready, it would be really appreciated. We will start to get ready at 1pm in Hub 1. As for the senior celebration, this starts at 6:30pm.  We are asking for those of you who's child is year 0-3, (that is able to attend the Senior Learning Achievement Celebration), be at school at 5:15pm in Hub 3 to get ready.  The Kapa Haka group are opening both celebrations so once your child has performed they are able to get changed and leave. They are not required to stay unless they are performing in the choir or Pasifika group. W...
