Bailey Road School Performance - Friday 06/11/2015

Purpose
This communication is to share details of the groups next scheduled performance.

Background
We are proud to say that the Stonefields Kapa Haka group has been nominated to perform at the inaugural Tamaki Cultural Festival at Bailey Road School on Friday the 6th of November.  This event was created to bring our schools together and to celebrate each others performances.  This is the first of what is hoping to be many of these events in the future.  There will also be a performance by TJ Taotua to close the event.

We will be representing Stonefields School as a member of this cluster group.  Other schools that will be performing include:
  • Saint Pius X Catholic School
  • Glen Innes Primary School, and
  • Glen Taylor School

Our Involvement
We want as many of our learners to be there to perform as possible.  This is a great opportunity for our team to showcase what we have learnt so far in the year, but also to see what other schools are doing for their performances as well.  It would be awesome to have other schools inspire our group.  This will be our first performance representing the school offsite!

Transportation
Stonefields School has agreed to fund transportation of the learners to Bailey Road School.  This will leave directly from the school at 3:10pm on Friday.  We expect the learners to come to a central point to get changed by 2:30pm and then board the bus.

Parents and guardians will be expected to pick up their own children after the performance.  We understand that this may not be convenient for all families so you may want to connect with other families or the tutors to share the responsibility.

Location
Bailey Road School, Mt Wellington

Meeting Time
3:00pm Friday 6th of November

Clothing
  • Will leave the school in Kapa Haka uniform
  • School uniform will be in school bag, bags come with the learners (learners responsibility)
  • School jacket (or blanket) on prior to performance
  • Blankets to be given back post performance

Food
Can you please ensure that your child has a little more food in their lunchbox for after school.  Bailey Road School will have food and drink stalls during the performances.  Bring some cash to support the school but also to take advantage of these.

At Bailey Road School the Kapa Haka Committee will purchase some food for the learners from the stalls from our fundraising fund.  If your child has special dietary requirements, please ensure that they communicate those to committee members on the day.  Probably be a better solution to organise your own.  We want to both support the school fundraiser but ensure all our kids have some food in them.

Parking
We sincerely hope as many parents can come and see the group perform.  From memory there isn’t a lot of parking available.  You may have to park a couple of streets away.

Performance
The performances are being planned for outside.  The stage is likely to be the trailer of a truck so should support our large group.
