Email to parents about the Haka Powhiri

Hi there,

As you may be aware, there is an upcoming exciting event happening near us! The Malama Honua World Wide Voyage will be landing at the Pt England Reserve at 9.20am on Tuesday 24 March. This is important to us as members of the Manaiakalani cluster of schools as the voyage is following the journey that “Manaiakalani” is based on. For more information, please click here.  Our Year 4-8 learners have been busy learning waiata to greet the voyagers, led by our Kapa Haka group and will have an opportunity to witness this exciting landing.

To make this possible, our Year 4-8 learners will be walking to Pt England Reserve to arrive in time for the landing. We will need to meet at Stonefields School at 8.00am. They will need a hat, sensible walking shoes and a drink bottle in their bags. Our younger Kapa Haka learners will be bused to the landing area to enable them to arrive in time to be in place and practice. We will return to Stonefields after the haka powhiri is complete, at around 11.30am.

In order to streamline the permission progress, if you do not respond to this email we will assume that you give permission for your learner to attend this amazing learning opportunity. If your learner is unable to attend, please reply to let us know. If you have any questions, comments or concerns, please let us know.

We would love some parent help to walk with us and be part of this experience. If you are able to come with us, please reply and let us know.

Kind regards,
Hub Teams.
